Clear about what
stays local.

This page describes the current LocalScribe personal build and this website. Public distribution and checkout are still in preparation.

Speech processing on your Mac

Model validation, recognition and ffmpeg audio conversion run in separate local processes under a macOS policy that denies network access. The app does not send recordings or transcripts to a cloud AI service.

The current app has no account system, app analytics or remote transcript service. This process-level network restriction is not an App Store sandbox entitlement, and it does not encrypt your files.

When the internet is used

Checking a media link and downloading media use yt-dlp and connect to the chosen source. Explicit model downloads connect to their HTTPS source. Those services receive network requests under their own policies.

Downloads are separate from local recognition. Compatible models and required tools must be available on your Mac before offline processing. Models, ffmpeg and yt-dlp are currently installed separately.

Your local library

Imported originals are copied into ~/Library/Application Support/LocalScribe/Recordings. Transcript versions, model references and job history are stored in the app's local Library.json file. These files use owner-only permissions.

Editing saves a separate copy, retaining earlier recognition output. Exports create files at the location you choose. Temporary recognition and download folders are removed when their task completes or is cancelled.

Local storage remains subject to your Mac's user access, disk protection, backup and sync settings. LocalScribe currently has no app-level encryption feature. Improved library backup, deletion and retention controls are on the roadmap.

This website

The landing page does not upload or process recordings. It adds no analytics scripts, tracking pixels, advertising cookies or external font requests. Images and page assets are served from this site.

The theme control remembers your chosen appearance in browser local storage. It is used only to keep that setting. You can clear it through your browser's site-data controls.

Like other hosted websites, the hosting and domain services may receive ordinary request information, such as an IP address, browser information and requested URL, and may retain service logs. This page does not promise that infrastructure keeps no logs.

Email and future checkout

Contact links open your email app. If you choose to send a message, Ardit Daku receives the details you include through the email provider. Avoid including private recordings or transcripts in a launch enquiry.

There is currently no checkout, customer account or mailing-list form on this website. A future purchase service will have its own payment and privacy terms, linked before sales begin.
